Your days of crown-molding anxiety are over. The Shopmaster MS250 makes quick work of that and any other tricky angles you can come up with. Its 13 amp, 5200 rpm motor drives its 10-inch blade through two-by-sixes and four-by-fours in one pass. When it's time to tilt, the MS250 makes it quick and easy. The easy-to-read bevel scale has adjustable positive stops for quick settings with a bevel range of negative 3 to plus 48 degrees. Like its relatives in the Shopmaster line, this saw comes with a clear blade guard that retracts at the cut as well as an electric blade brake that stops rotation in seconds. For all its power and features, the MS250's aluminum alloy construction tilts the scale at just 28 pounds. Another nice feature: a dust bag is included, keeping mess to a minimum in and out of your workshop. --Kris Jensen-Van Heste

From the Manufacturer
Powered by a 13 amp motor, this 10-inch compound miter saw cuts 4-by-4 and 2-by-6 lumber easily at 90 degrees. The table pivots up to 47 degrees left and right and has positive stops at 0, 22-1/2, and 45 degrees for quick and accurate angle setting. The blade tilts from -3 to 48 degrees for a variety of bevel cutting operations. The compound action allows easier cutting of crown moldings because the table and blade can be set at the proper angle to keep the molding flat on the table. By tilting the blade, bevels can be cut on materials up to 5-7/8 inches wide. The aluminum base has a built-in carrying handle in the rear to prevent excess wear and tear on the operating handle. The base is 3-1/2 inches high--the same height as a 2-by-4 placed on edge-so a job site work table can be built easily when support is needed for longer workpieces. The fence is pre-drilled for easy mounting of wooden auxiliary fences to support taller workpieces. A dust bag is also included for dust collection.

5Excellent value for the price.
By Victor Blake
I already owned a sidekick (sliding compound miter saw). I purchased this for more portable use and lighter weight. Look around for the Delta package that includes a free extra blade, extension cord, tool holder, tape measure, and builder's sqaure. If you find that, you've got quite a deal. Great for small trim work. I've used it for quarter rounds, base, etc. Setting the angles for compound cuts by hand does require some care. But single angle cuts are a "snap" with the positive locks at 45, 90, etc.

5Really Great Saw
By Bryan Mundt
I didn't buy this saw through Amazon.com, but it's good enough that I figured I would write about it anyway! This saw blazes through a 4x4 with absolutly no problem! I've cut trim, lumber and crown molding with ease. The instruction manual even has a whole section dedicated on how to cut crown molding.
I would say that the only problem is that the dust bag doesn't do that good of job on collecting all the dust. But I guess it's better then nothing!

1You get what you pay for....
By Michael A. Swanner
I own Dewalt, Bosch, Hitachi, and now unfortunately a Delta - so I know a good miter saw and how they should work. This thing has been a headache from the start. There is no arbor lock for blade changes, it constantly needs adjusting if you really want a true 45 or 90 cut. Good thing I bought this as a light duty saw for shoe moulding and little stuff like that instead of dragging out one of my 'real' miter saws. I don't know what the deal is, I've tried different blades and there isn't much run-out but the cut quality is much less than the other saws with the same blade. It also runs after the drigger is depressed for a second or two before it kicks off, and the base get's energized from time to time and can give you a small tingling shock when you touch any of the bare metal on it. If you only have one had to carry it with you have to put it down on the miter adjustment handle and picking it up with one hand puts pressure on the same spot. The handle is on the bottom of the back instead of on top like the dewalt, the fence is way to small, the table doesn't slide smoothly at all and the bevel gauge is useless for setting a precise angle without at least a hand bevel gauge to check it. There is a reason the other 10" saw cost more, you get much better quality and three times better function. I could care less if I drop this think now or it gets rained on because I'd love a reason to get another 10" Dewalt and put this were it belongs, a landfill.
