4Homeowner Quality, but good for the price
By Lou C
I got the Rockwell Jawhorse for Xmas this year. The Jawhorse is an incredible tool. We got a promotional coupon from Rockwell so I picked up this miter saw. It's is just about mid pack for the price range. Fence is too short for big moldings, and the instructions are typically unintelligible. Took awhile to get it aligned and the stops to work with the miter gage. The cheap Chinese blade is a thin kerf, cheap, 40 tooth. (Most stock blades are pretty bad in this price range though.) Probably OK for framing and "stud" work. Replaced it with a Makita A-94764 10-Inch 60 Tooth Ultra Coated Mitersaw Blade that I liked much better for trim moldings and plywood I will be cutting. Starts quickly, nice handle/trigger action (I like the horizontal handle) most adjustments are pretty obvious. Light weight. A couple of machine screws tapped in the aluminum base stripped quickly. Came very well packaged. Very little play in the cutting action. Very similar to the Hitachi I looked at.

I'm not sure how well it would hold up for a contractor, but it does a nice job for the hobby/home owner. Once I build a portable stand & workstation, I think it will do every thing I want it to do.

1Two saws down....
By Joe from Arundel
I did not buy this on Amazon but bought from my local lumber store. I actually don't know why they have sold such a bad product, actually makes me kind of wonder about continued business with them. So my first saw broke a little less than a year after I bought it, it wouldn't stop running and the brake was engaged. So needless to say lots of smoke, and had to pull the cord but still filled my basement with smoke. The customer service was okay, they got back to me in a reasonable time but sent me to a repair shop that didn't repair the saw. Which was kind of a pain as it was 1/2 hour away. Then the customer service agent was good and decided to send me another one. It arrived and worked okay. Cut well but now six months later this saw will not turn on. So either I got two duds or this saw does not have the staying power. It hasn't been used that much, I only used it about twenty times and now doesn't work again. I am a fairly serious DIYer so if you are the same and want a saw that will last more than a few months or a year at best I would recommend spending twice the money on a Dewalt, Bosch, etc... Stay away from the deal that seems too good to be true.

4Good Tool
By Ray
So far it seems to work great. The adjustments had to be tweeked, but other than that it is good.
